Within the 370 ha of vineyards in Meursault, 96 ha are classified “Premier Cru”.  These excellent soils were planted with vines by the monks of Cîteaux as early as 1098. Les “Charmes” comes from the south part, just neighbor of Puligny-Montrachet 1er cru Les Referts where the soils are thinner and give a deep minerality.

The Wine:
Hand-harvested. Soft pneumatic press and cold clarification. Aged in French oak barriques during 11 months (50% new). Bottled in the beginning of September 2008, before new harvest.

Region: Bourgogne
Appellation : Meursault 1er Cru AOC
Grape Variety : 100% Chardonnay

Tasting Notes:
Limpid gold color. The bouquet is redolent of white fruits (peach, citrus, apple) with notes of minerals and toasted bread. Butter and honey are also present and will develop with age. On the palate, it is rich and fat with elegant aromas of dry fruits (hazelnuts), well balanced with its light freshness.

Food Pairings:
With its rich and buttery characteristics, this bottle revels naturally with noble and fine-textured fish or white meats in butter or creamy sauces. It will be at its best with grilled a poultry from Bresse in a morel creamy sauce. It is also a good partner with refined and strong cheeses.

Service Temperature:
14°C.
